Minden Gardnerville, Nevada

In the heart of Carson Valley lies the towns of Minden and Gardnerville. Gardnerville is a farm town established in the 1860s to serve the agricultural population and Minden is a quiet little town. U.S. Highway 395 runs through Minden. It is also the terminus of State Route 88, which becomes California State Route 88 on the west side of the state line.

Minden and Gardnerville have a diverse style of homes. Home prices in this area are generally less expensive than homes in Reno. Minden’s historic downtown hosts several annual events, such as craft fairs, concerts, farmers markets, and fundraisers. Minden is also home to the Minden-Tahoe Airport which is a 990-acre, full-service, non-towered facility located at the foothills of the rugged Sierra Nevada Mountains in the Carson Valley. Built in 1942 as a military training base, Douglas County operates the Airport to serve diverse aviation uses, including sport aviation, emergency services and corporate flying. The area is recognized as one of the best locations in the world for soaring and is home to approximately 18 businesses, over 400 based aircraft and an estimated economic impact of $47 million and 130 jobs. Minden/Gardnerville has one public elementary, one middle and one high school.
