Verdi, Nevada is located 10 miles west of Reno on the Truckee River and is the first Nevada town you pass if you’re traveling east on Interstate 80 into Reno. What was once the main highway, now Old Highway 40, makes up Verdi’s main street. Verdi has a fascinating history revolving around the railroad and lumber trade. The area is mostly rural with very few amenities, and residents must drive to Reno for most things. However, there is the nearby Gold Ranch Casino, that mainly caters to travelers and has a large RV park, and the newly renovated Boomtown Casino that has concerts, shows and events. Verdi only has an elementary school so older children would need to go to nearby Reno middle and high schools. The area can be very pricey with homes ranging from the $300s to the millions. There is also an abundance of land for sale.
