The City of Fallon, located in western Nevada, is around one hour east of Reno. The landscape consists primarily of farmland and high desert flats interrupted by dramatic mountain ranges. Residents enjoy an abundance of outdoor recreation opportunities. Many lakes, reservoirs, hunting areas, Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) zones and marshland surround the area. The Stillwater National Wildlife Refuge covers 80,000 acres of the Lahontan Valley with lush marsh and an abundance of wildlife and is named a globally important bird area by the American Bird Conservancy. Grimes Point Archaeological Area features a trail filled with intriguing rock writings and petroglyphs.
