Incline Village Lake Tahoe is named for the Great Incline Tramway built by loggers in 1878. Today, Incline is home to some of Lake Tahoe’s most stunning mountain retreats. The population is around 35,000 and is one of the largest towns on Lake Tahoe and the main town on the lake on the Nevada side. The Village is home to large mansions (some belonging to several famous people) as well as some great hotels and restaurants. Incline Village is also the closest town to the Lake Tahoe State Park and Sand Harbor, some of the nicest beaches on the lake.
There are many locals who live full-time in Incline Village though there are a fair share of vacation rentals and part-time residents. The Hyatt Regency at Lake Tahoe is in Incline Village and hosts many conferences and events which also brings people to the area. Activities include the well-known Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival at nearby Sand Harbor in the summer, mountain biking down the Flume trail, and skiing at Diamond Peak Ski Area (in the city limits) and Mt. Rose Ski Resort in the winter.
Public schools are Incline Elementary, Middle, and High School. Sierra Nevada College is also located in Incline Village
